A Deatsville woman has been arrested and charged with manslaughter and driving under the influence following a deadly two-vehicle crash.

Mysti Shamblin, 39, was taken into custody Tuesday after warrants were issued in connection with the January 18 crash that claimed the life of Victoria Purdy, 36, of Prattville.

Wetumpka police officers responded to the scene at Highway 14 and McCain Road around 2:25 a.m. on Sunday.

Officers found Shamblin at the scene with non-life-threatening injuries. Purdy was pronounced dead at the scene.

An initial investigation led to warrants being issued Tuesday and to an arrest, WPD Major Josh Barfoot confirmed.

Shamblin is being held in the Elmore County Jail on a $300,000 cash-only bond.

The investigation remains ongoing.

How was this a hit and run if she was found at the scene? It wasn’t. Mrs. Shamblin was taken to the hospital and was not arrested until 10 days later.
