Lerato Molwelang breaks silence on circulating video

Lerato Molwelang has issued an official notice to the public following the circulation of a video widely described as X rated involving her that has spread widely across online platforms.

In her statement, Molwelang confirms that she is the individual seen in the footage but says she was exploited and misled by a casting agency.

She maintains that she did not sign any agreement or contract consenting to the lawful production, distribution or monetisation of the video, and that she did not give informed consent for how the content has been used or shared.

Molwelang warned that any further sharing, reposting, editing or monetisation of the video is unauthorised and said legal action will be taken against any individual, page or entity that continues to circulate it.

She also addressed the circulation of a Facebook account claiming to belong to her, stating that the account does not belong to her and that she is not affiliated with it.

Molwelang clarified that she only operates her official Facebook account and her official Instagram account, adding that any information or content shared outside of these platforms should be regarded as false and misleading.

Her statement comes amid intense public discussion and online reactions surrounding the video, as she moves to assert her legal position and halt further distribution of the content.

SAPS warn South Africans about fraudulent online casting scam

South African Police Service (SAPS)  have issued a stern warning to the public regarding a man identified as Ivo Suzee, who allegedly operates a fraudulent online casting and recruitment service called “African Audition.”

According to officials, Suzee uses deceptive advertisements and false promises of modelling or entertainment work to lure women and young girls under the guise of interviews or auditions.

Once victims attend these so-called opportunities, they are reportedly sexually exploited, with some auditions or interviews recorded and the explicit material subsequently distributed or publicised.

Authorities said the actions contravene the Cybercrimes Act 19 of 2020, the Films and Publications Act 65 of 1996 (as amended), as well as sexual and other related offences.

Members of the public are urged to exercise extreme caution, thoroughly verify all recruitment or casting opportunities, and immediately report any suspicious approaches or activities to law enforcement agencies.

“This is a serious matter that poses a direct threat to young women and girls,” said SAPS officials. “We encourage the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity without delay.”
