Imibongo Ntamehlo has passed away after incident at school

The death of an 8-year-old child has left the community of Gxulu in shock after the young learner was reportedly found to have taken their own life.

The child has been identified as Imibongo Ntamehlo, an 8-year-old Grade 3 learner. According to reports from the area, the learner had previously told family members that some children at school would laugh at them and call them “ugly.” It is believed that the constant teasing and mockery left the child feeling deeply hurt and isolated.

The tragedy has sparked serious concern in the community about bullying among young learners and the emotional impact it can have on children.

Many residents are now urging parents, teachers, and guardians to pay close attention when children speak about being mocked, excluded, or hurt by others. What may seem like small teasing to some can weigh heavily on a young heart.

The community continues to mourn the loss of young Imibongo, whose life ended far too soon. Thoughts and prayers are with the family during this incredibly painful time. 🕊️
